Why we like the PRS-505
The Sony PRS 505 is one
of the first Sony readers put on the market and it’s
upgrade to Sony’s first eBook reader the
PRS-500. This
reader dominates Europe market due to its svalue and
Kindle unavailability.
This reader has a 6 inch display that has ample room for
reading however it does lack wireless connectivity to
the internet. Instead it uses a computers USB internet
connection for downloading.
This can be inconvenient on the go which is a hindrance
when trying to use the reader for on the go performance.
It comes standard with 256 MB of memory but does have
memory cards available for those needing to download and
store more print material.
The good and the not so good
Unlike some competitors
this version of a digital reader does not have keyboard
which can make using it for editing or keeping notes on
text while reading impossible.
Many users think that the side feature buttons are
placed in an inconvenient location and are easily
accidentally hit during use. The battery life is simple
enough for travel and has about 7500 page turns per
charge.
If you are looking for a business documents or textbook reader, the Sony 505 is a good choice, but for reading books or for a portable reader, we believe the Kindle is a better choice.
