Kindle Expands it’s Downloading Capabilities

The Kindle E-Reader has been made over several times and has become a 6-inch wonder for avid book lovers, professionals and students alike.  The Kindle makes available thousands of books that can be downloaded in less than 60 seconds and purchased through Amazon.  This year, the numbers are finally adding up and it seems that E-Reading people are on the rise.  One of the downfalls of the Kindle system has been that people traveling outside the United States have been unable to download books using the Kindle because the Sprint network used for downloading was unavailable.

In order to remain competitive and stay one-step ahead of the other companies offering E-Readers, Kindle announced that download capabilities would extend to around 100 other countries outside of the United States.  Initially, this was met with much confusion as consumers thought they would be able to download books from those companies.  Kindle states that the downloads will still come from the regular base of book availability; with the difference being you can download them from the UK, China and other countries that you may be traveling to.

Kindle is facing pressure to perform with Barnes & Noble planning its E-Reader launch soon. The Barnes & Noble E-Reader will up the ante on available books by around 400,000 or more and Kindle is nervous about the results.  This new move makes the Kindle more useful for those that regularly travel outside of the country.  One downfall is that the new Kindle which will offer download capabilities in other countries requires a new purchase by the consumer.  The good news is the USA based only Kindle has dropped around $40.

No matter which way you look at it, this is a great move for Kindle and for those that travel.  They are still in secret discussions with Random House about having access to their material and if that occurs than the Kindle will instantly offer access hundreds of thousands of new material.

This new move by Kindle definitely shows their flexibility to meet the demands of serious E-Readers and the new International E-Reader is definitely a must have for the avid E-Reader who travels often.
